Writing tutorials and blogs on Tech.pro is a great way to showcase your skills and share your experiences with fellow tech professionals. In addition, you will have chance to win $1,000 if you are article is selected as the winning article in your category.

Each month we will run a new writing competition. To be considered for the monthly competition, please submit your article between the first and last day of the month. All submissions must be received by 11:59:59 PM PST on the last day of the month.

How to Enter

Here is the low down on getting your tutorials and/or blogs onto Tech.pro and entered into the monthly contest:

1. Send us your email and a bit about you. Tech.pro is an invite only site, for now. Once you receive an invite code, you will be able to…
2. Create your Tech.pro account.
3. Then, start writing your blog or tutorial covering one of the categories listed at the top of this page. There are two wildcard categories so you can write about anything you want (tech related). Check out the tutorials and blogs already written to get an idea of the quality and length of article that can win you cold, hard cash.
4. Send a few links to your friends showing off your literary genius.
5. Wait until the 15th of the following month to find out if your article has been chosen as one of our ten $1,000 winners.

Tech.pro/{you}

Currently, membership on Tech.pro allows you to post articles and get a cool Tech.pro blog URL like Leland’s, http://tech.pro/leland/blog. In three months (6 months in developer time), there will be much more you can do with your membership. For now, Tech.pro Membership is reserved for those techies with an invite code. You can request an invite code by using the form above. Once approved by a Tech.pro staff member, you will receive an email with your invite code. With your newly minted invite code, you can create a Tech.pro account and post as many tutorials or blogs as you like.

Contest Eligibility

Anyone can request an invite to Tech.pro and every applicant will be reviewed as our lean team can get to them. Tech.pro employees may not participate. That just would not be fair since we are selecting the winners (more on that shortly). A few simple rules for article eligibility:

1. Your article submission is published exclusively on Tech.pro, and not anywhere else on the wonderful world of web.
2. Your article is original work. Blantant plagiarism is not cool.
3. You agree that we can use your article for Tech.pro promotional purposes… which is good for you.
4. The judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into (we are trying to build this site, blog, and judge… lots on our plate).
5. You agree to the Terms & Conditions of Tech.pro, including the Contributors Section.

Oh yeah, only those living in jurisdictions where this contest is legal may enter.

Number of Submissions

You can post as many tutorials and blogs as you like. In fact, there will be an annual prize awarded to the top blogger on Tech.pro which will be announced at a later date. However, only one of your articles can win $1,000 in a given month.

Each article category (see top of this page) must have at least 3 submitted articles by 3 different authors by the end of the month in order for a winner to be chosen in that category. If the minimum is not met, your submission(s) will carry over to the next month's contest.

A given article may only be considered for a single category. If an article is eligible for multiple categories, Tech.pro will contact you via email and ask you to choose a desired category. In the case of a non-response, Tech.pro will select a category for you.

Judging

The Tech.pro staff will judge every submission by quality and popularity. The winners of each category will be notified by email within two weeks of the closing of the contest. Should we fail to receive a response within two weeks, we will award the prize to the runner-up. We use the first seven days of page views as a general measure of popularity. By declaring a winner on the 15th of the following month, you can post your article(s) at the end of the current month and we still have time to measure page views. Also, remember that popularity alone does not determine a winner. Quality is a big deal to our judges. All decisions are final and we will not tolerate sore losers… just kidding… seriously though… let’s all be nice to each other. In time, the Tech.pro staff will relinquish the reigns to the collective wisdom of the Tech.pro community to determine winners.

Payment

Should you win the best article in your respective category, your $1,000 award can be transferred to you via Paypal or by check. In some rare cases, we may have to award you with an Amazon.com gift voucher (e.g. - you live in a country that has no hard currency).
